It’s much more than just Eating Clean
Eating healthy is not just about weight control as it is more about optimal health and performance of your body and how it functions on a daily basis. Our bodies were designed and know exactly what to do with proper nutrition and how to fuel all the systems of the body for optimal health and performance. We are complex, very very complex and so is the scientific makeup of whole foods we were intended to consume for this very reason.
With proper nutrition the complex systems of our body can perform optimally. Over time, improper nutrition or “Frankenfoods”(foods created in a lab with artificial ingredients) don’t offer proper nutrition but many times harmful chemicals that our body doesn’t know what to do with. Quite often these can be destructive and bring about issues or diseases down the road as our system just doesn’t know how to excrete them properly.
Look at the main systems of the human body and think about the complexity.
Cardiovascular/Circulatory system:
Circulates blood around the body via the heart, arteries and veins, delivering oxygen and nutrients to organs and cells and carrying their waste products away.
Digestive system / Excretory system:
Mechanical and chemical processes that provide nutrients via the mouth, esophagus, stomach and intestines.
Eliminates waste from the body.
Endocrine system:
Provides chemical communications within the body using hormones.
Integumentary system/ Exocrine system:
Skin, hair, nails, sweat and other exocrine glands.
Lymphatic system / Immune system:
The system comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph.
Defends the body against disease-causing agents.
Muscular system/Skeletal system:
Enables the body to move using muscles.
Bones supporting the body and its organs.
Nervous system:
Collects and processes information from the senses via nerves and the brain and tells the muscles to contract to cause physical actions.
Renal system / Urinary system:
The system where the kidneys filter blood.
Reproductive system:
The sex organs required for the production of offspring.
Respiratory system:
The lungs and the trachea that bring air into the body.
It’s crazy to think about but the reality is sometimes we are so wrapped up in the weight gain issue and don’t really look at the ramifications of eating unhealthy man made crap and what it does over time. Hippocrates said “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” Dude was right!!! Eat healthy and watch the amazing positive changes in your health!
